[1] Surah At-Tawbah – Concerning The Virtues of the Companions by Shaykh Rabee

From the Virtues of the Companions of the Messenger ﷺ that are Present in the Book of Allaah – The Almighty.

Shaykh Rabee’ (May Allaah Preserve him) said:

Allaah The Mighty and Majestic said:

The believers, men and women, are Auliyaa’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another; they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma’ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); they perform As-Salaat (Iqamat-as-Salaat), and give the Zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

Allah has promised the believers – men and women, – Gardens under which rivers flow to dwell therein forever, and beautiful mansions in Gardens of ‘Adn (Eden Paradise). But the greatest bliss is the Good Pleasure of Allah. That is the supreme success. [1].

This- by Allaah- is a description of the companions (May Allaah be pleased with them) of Muhammad ﷺ. And this promise is for them in the first instance after the Prophets.

(They enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma’ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do))

And at the head of enjoining Al-Ma’ruf, is the call to the Tawheed (i.e. to worship Allaah alone, without any partners).

(And forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden);)

And at the head of the forbidden acts, the Munkaraat, is polytheism and disbelief in Allaah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and the companions of Muhammad ﷺ called to the Tawheed of Allaah, and they carried their swords in conveyance of this call, they battled against the disbelievers that were staunch upon shirk with their swords. The companions fought them in order to enjoin the good and to forbid the evil, so Allaah aided them and Allaah – by way of them – made his religion uppermost over all the other religions. [2]

(and they perform As-Salaat (Iqamat-as-Salaat))

There is no one who performs Salaah and gives in charity like them. There is no one who comes close to them in this regard.
